Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation

Welcome to another foundation review! This time I’ll be laying out the pros and cons to the Clinique Beyond Perfecting 2 in 1 Foundation and Concealer. Let’s jump right into it…

Pros:
-Full coverage
-Matte finish
-20 available shades
-Doesn’t settle into lines

Cons:
-Heavy formula
-Looks somewhat cakey
-Oxidizes
-Messy applicator

After weighing out the pros and cons, I will say that I do like this foundation, but don’t like it enough to wear it every day of the week. I have oily, acne prone skin so a huge pro is the matte finish but a huge con is that this formula feels very heavy on my skin. For me it’s a better fit in winter in regards to the formula, however it does oxidize quite a bit so that’s not great either. I do enjoy the coverage it gives me because, after all, it does double as a foundation and a concealer. It definitely covers up any imperfections in my skin, blemishes, and scars while also not settling into fine lines or wrinkles. The price point isn’t too bad at $27, though once I run out I likely won’t purchase it again. I don’t hate it but it isn’t worthy of a rebuy in my opinion.

Lorac POREfection Foundation

My search for the perfect foundation continues. I have been on the serious lookout for something that is liquid, provides full coverage, and stays matte the majority of the day. I tried a Lancome product first (see my review here) and next up is Lorac’s POREfection Foundation…

Pro’s:
-Full coverage upon first application
-Pump up type packaging
-Unscented

Con’s:
-Blotchy after just a few hours
-Doesn’t stay put even with powder application
-Full coverage fades… acne, scarring, and oil clearly shine through
-$36.00 per bottle

Overall, I didn’t love this foundation and would only recommend it for those with dry skin. I truly did give it about 2 weeks for a fair shot and each morning it looked amazing immediately after application. After a few hours, though, it was pretty bad. The coverage faded and it looked very uneven. With concealer underneath the foundation I was able to provide more coverage, but the staying power just wasn’t there. I’m sure you have had the experience when you look in the mirror mid-afternoon and see some blotching. Well, this was extreme, and when I went to try to save it the patches got bigger and more noticeable. It just doesn’t move around well. Again, I don’t mind paying a higher price for a product that does what it claims, this one just didn’t for me.

On to the next… XOXO.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H Foundation

The struggle has been real lately on finding a liquid foundation that matches my skin. Because I have always opted for a drugstore foundation, it has been difficult knowing what color to pick out. There are so many factors to consider when choosing a shade that I thought it was time to leave it to the professionals to help me out. For the first time ever (yes ever) I went to Ulta to get color matched and check out some higher quality foundations. Of course, the Ulta salesperson knew exactly what to say to convince me to buy the most expensive one they carry, “Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H Foundation”. I left the store foundation in hand feeling optimistic and excited. I got it home, tried it for a week… and I didn’t love it.

Pros:
-You’ll find a perfect color match because of the insane amount of shade variety.
-The product feels super light weight on the skin.
-Lancome didn’t cheap out on this packaging; It’s very durable.
-There is a pump on the applicator, which helps the product to stay fresh.

Cons:
-It is only medium coverage.
-That being said, it did not cover my acne well at all even with 2-3 coats.
-There is a floral scent that lingers all day.
-Cha ching… this baby is pricey!

I bought this thinking it was full coverage, that was the main selling point for me. For some people who may not struggle with acne, scarring, or redness I can see where you’d think that this is fuller in coverage. For others (such as myself) who have areas to cover up I would consider this more of a medium coverage. While I absolutely loved how light this felt in comparison to drugstore foundations, I couldn’t get over the simple fact that, for $47 per bottle, I just didn’t love it. I am the type of person who doesn’t mind spending a bit more on products that work. But sometimes higher price doesn’t mean better. I’ve used foundations from the drugstore costing a quarter of the price that had more coverage.

Now, I’m not saying I hate this product… it just didn’t work well for me. I would recommend this foundation for anyone who has clearer skin looking to simply even out your skin tone and would suggest that others opt for something else, XOXO.

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation

If you are looking for an affordable and full-coverage drugstore foundation, then look no further! This baby goes on smooth and lasts the majority of the day. The shade range is wide and I love that it has a pump for easy, sanitary use. It has been my go to ever since I picked it up this month.

Fratboy by The Balm

I bought my very first high end blush! And it was worth every penny. I had received a (tiny) sample of this in my first ever Birchbox and found that because the pan was so little, the product wasn’t going on my brush evenly…hence why I picked up the full size. This shade is super natural and would look good on a variety of skin tones. Plus the texture is heavenly!

Food Network Cast Iron Dutch Oven

Any other terrible chefs out there?! I lucked out marrying a man who is knows what he’s doing in the kitchen because I never really know what’s going on in there! This dutch oven is fool proof. My favorite meals to make are shredded chicken for tacos and a seared pork loin. I love how easy it can go from stove to oven and does an amazing job locking in flavors.

Skagen Freja Rose Gold Watch

This was an anniversary gift from my husband and it has been on my wrist nonstop this month because I love it so much. Now that I am out of grad school and have a professional job, I have been working to update my wardrobe. This is such a nice addition to my collection. It’s very lightweight with a classic design and the hue is true rose gold.

Real Housewives of New York

What can I say? Don’t judge me. It’s my number one guilty pleasure. I don’t do drama in my life anymore but sure do love watching these women deal with theirs, XOXO!
